Erweiterungsneubau Technologie- und Gewerbezentrum Schwerin, Germany

Demand is growing for commercial space in the Technological and Commercial Centre (Technologie- und Gewerbezentrum [TGZ]) in Schwerin, northern Germany. A new building there will provide additional rental property with modern office and production space. The building complex will become the technology park’s new entrance structure, and thus a landmark for the entire area.

The building is designed with four structurally identical parts, or modules, connected  together. The building module design offers great flexibility for use, facilitating numerous floor plan variations for production and office areas. The connection areas between modules accommodate washroom areas etc. Further individual service facilities can be planned separately for the four modules. The design thus creates space, in a lively technology centre, that can be flexibly used according to the needs of each individual tenancy. Should more space become needed in the future, the new building complex can be extended to the south by a further module and an extra floor.

BVI Ferry Terminal, British Virgin Island

Tortola, the largest of the British Virgin Islands, is a popular destination for cruise ships, private yacht owners and tourists. For the British and American Virgin Islands connections, the West End Ferry Terminal is of great tourist and economic importance. Approximately 40 per cent of all arrivals to the British Virgin Islands were handled by the terminal prior to its destruction in 2017 by Hurricanes Maria and Irma. In 2019, the jetty and terminal building were temporarily redeveloped and reopened. However, the terminal no longer meets modern requirements. Modernisation and expansion was a necessary step even before the damage. In August 2021 the planning for the ferry terminal had begun.
